The PLME is excited to welcome our newest cohort, PLME’29 MD’33, to the Brown community! During orientation, first-year students will have the opportunity to connect with their PLME advising deans and Meiklejohn peer advisors, explore the Open Curriculum, and learn how to navigate the academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular opportunities at Brown. A highlight of orientation is PLME Wars, an annual tradition hosted by the PLME Senate, where advising groups face off in friendly competition for the coveted Golden Stethoscope.
This summer, many PLME students have been engaging in various global and research opportunities available. Some are participating in the PLME’s Summer Research Assistantship (SRA), the HIV and Emerging Infectious Disease Scholars Program (H-EIDS), and initiatives through the Global Health Initiative (GHI). Others are taking part in international exchange programs at the Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China, National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, and the University of Tübingen and University of Rostock in Germany.
Additionally, over 70 students joined the inaugural PLME/MD Summer Mentoring Program, which connected undergraduates with PLME and MD alumni for mentorship, advice, and networking. Alumni shared their personal journeys and professional insights, helping to strengthen the bridge between current students and the broader PLME community.
