PLME Updates
April 2026 PLME Update
The PLME community has been busy this spring. Following a competitive application process, 15 PLME undergraduates were awarded the 2026 PLME Summer Research Assistantship (SRA), supporting their work on projects with Brown faculty this summer. Additional students will participate in international exchange programs in Germany, Taiwan, and China this summer, along with a new two-week service-learning program in the Dominican Republic focused on community health and non-communicable diseases.
The PLME Whole Physician Program hosted two successful speed networking events, connecting students with physicians across a range of specialties. The PLME Senate also held its annual PLME Formal, bringing the community together to celebrate the year.
We were also excited to welcome admitted students through A Day on College Hill (ADOCH), held both in person, where current students hosted visitors on campus, and virtually. The virtual program featured a panel of PLME students spanning the undergraduate and medical school years, highlighting the PLME journey across its full continuum. Breakout sessions also gave admitted students the chance to connect directly with current PLMEs.
Earlier this month, first-year students participated in the final Whole Patient Program of the year, supported by the Stanley D. Simon, M.D. Lectureship. The session featured Dr. Deus Cielo and his patient, offering a powerful and personal look at the patient-physician relationship.
We look forward to celebrating our PLME seniors as they graduate next month!
